By Amy

As a newcomer I was resentful and full of anger. Everything made me mad no matter how big or how small. Now, I still have my resentments but they don’t control every aspect of my life. I still have to struggle with my anger, but it’s getting better. The slogans are what have helped me the most. In particular: “Live and Let Live,” “Let Go and Let God,” and “Easy Does It.” Also, the Serenity Prayer helps me calm down and look at the situation rationally. If not for the Serenity Prayer, I might have gotten myself in more trouble. As my attitude changes, friends around me notice and are more willing to hang out. They enjoy the fact that I’m not going to yell at them for no apparent reason.

Alateen is for young people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. Alateens are young men and women who range from 9 to 19 years of age. However, more often the range is from 12 to 19 years of age.

Alateen is for Al-Anon's younger members to find the same hope, welcome and comfort that Al-Anon provides to adult friends and family members of alcoholics. Is Al-Anon or Alateen for You? answers many commonly asked questions about the Al-Anon/Alateen fellowship and includes twenty questions designed to help you decide whether or not you need Alateen.

Locate an Alateen Meeting

There are six Alateen Meetings in the Central Ohio area. Visit Alateen Meetings for times and locations.

Alateen Sponsors

Alateen groups are sponsored by Al-Anon members. Sponsors are the first links to building strong recovery in our Alateens. Based on requests from professionals in the community, we could probably add five more meetings in Central Ohio if we had enough sponsors to go around. Please see Service Opportunities for information about being an Alateen sponsor.

Alateen Events

Alateen Events includes Alateen announcements and other special events. Please let us know what information you would like to see here. Note: Visit the Mark Your Calendar page for Intergroup meetings, Steering Committee meetings, and other Al-Anon & Alateen combined events.
