For More than 50 Years, Al-Anon Family Groups have been Helping Friends and Family Members Affected by Someone's Drinking
"The Al-Anon Family Groups have delegated complete administrative and operational authority to their Conference and its service arms." -- Concept Two
Many people dislike paperwork. However, in order to function and serve all of the groups in Central Ohio, a common set of documents are necessary to ensure business is managed effectively. As such, we have identified some paperwork that is essential to the successful functioning of Central Ohio's service arm. In Central Ohio, the service arm is Intergroup.
The Intergroup, through a Literature Distribution Center (LDC) and an Area Information Service (AIS), supports more than seventy meetings. This work is done completely by volunteers.
Below you will find some useful documents. These documents allow Intergroup, the LDC, and the AIS to smoothly - mostly - operate.
Use the Al-Anon Registration/Group Records Change Form, in pdf, to register a new group or make changes to an existing group. Instructions for filling out the form are also available in pdf. Send a copy of the form to Central Ohio Al-Anon Family Groups. Central Ohio AFG will, in turn, forward a copy to both the Ohio and World Services Al-Anon Family Groups offices. World Services issues registrations numbers for new groups.
Mail a copy of your Registration/Change Form to:
The Literature Price List, in pdf, has available publications and their costs. You may use it when placing literature orders for your group.
Note to Group Representatives: If you plan to order literature on the day of an Intergroup Meeting, please drop off your order form to the Literature Distribution Center during break. Hopefully, your order will be filled and ready for payment & pickup after the meeting. Please, no new orders after the meeting so volunteers can leave on time and the building can be locked as scheduled. Thank you!
Developed by a committee and approved by the Group Representatives (GRs) that attend Intergroup, the Suggested Intergroup Guidelines for Central Ohio Al-Anon Family Groups, in pdf, provides a foundation for making decisions. Every GR, District Representative (DR), Coordinator, and Officer should be familiar with the document. Additional resources include the Al-Anon Family Group Service Manual from the World Service Office and the Ohio Al-Anon Family Group Guidelines.
Many people dislike meetings - especially ones that gets bogged down in personalities, petty bickering, or redundant discussions. Intergroup Etiquette, in pdf, provides a common foundation, approved by the GRs, that allows the Chair to move the meeting along. It provides agreed-upon guidelines for introducing new business, introducing motions, having discussions, moving business along, and overruling the Chair. Again, every GR, District Representative, Coordinator, and Officer should be familiar with the document.
Have some new business? Want to make a motion? Use the Motions & New Business form. See the Meeting Etiquette to see how and when to use the form.
Want to get involved? Think you can do a better job? Think someone else can? Fill out the Nomination Form and e-mail to the Secretary at secretary@coafg.org, and we will get you started! If you think you might be interested and are not sure of what a job does read the Suggested District Guidelines for Central Ohio Al-Anon Family Groups, in pdf. You will find job descriptions there.
