Who attends Al-Anon meetings? Members and prospective members – those whose personal lives have been affected by the problem of alcoholism in a relative or friend.

Can others interested in the family disease of alcoholism attend meetings? Some groups hold Open* meetings and have an Open* designation. Anyone interested in the family disease of alcoholism, the professional community, members and prospective members are invited to attend Open* meetings.

Newcomers to the Al-Anon program are welcome to attend any Al-Anon meeting. In addition, Newcomers Meetings provide basic information about Al-Anon and Alateen that new members may find helpful. Newcomers to the Al-Anon and Alateen program are encouraged to attend regular Al-Anon and Alateen meetings as well.
