For More than 50 Years, Al-Anon Family Groups have been Helping the Families and Friends of Alcoholics.
Service is a vital purpose of Al-Anon. Perhaps you have seen us at Health Fairs or talked with someone on the phone, at your church, or in your schools. All those actions take place as a result of members donating their time and energy to an organization that has saved our lives. As such, we need your help. If you are a member of Al-Anon or Alateen and are willing to give something back, we will find something for you to do.
The slogan "When I got busy I got better" demonstrates that taking the focus off of our own problems aids our recovery.
Anything done to help a relative or friend of an alcoholic is service: a telephone call to a despairing member, sponsoring a newcomer, telling or listening to one's story at meetings, forming and supporting groups, arranging for public information, distributing literature, and financially supporting Al-Anon through voluntary donations. Carrying the message is suggested in the 12th Step of Al-Anon's Twelve Steps.
Alateen Service - Are you an Al-Anon member who is interested in helping teenagers affected by someone's alcoholism? We need your help! Contact the Alateen Coordinator.

Intergroup Positions - There are a variety of rewarding service positions -- Institution Coordinator, Literature Coordinator and more -- that support Central Ohio Al-Anon and Alateen. Contact the Intergroup Chair for more information about these service opportunities. Better yet, come to the next Intergroup meeting for a first-hand view of the workings of Intergroup. Intergroup meets the second Saturday of every odd month at Central Ohio Al-Anon Information Service (Central Office). See Mark Your Calendar for detailed information and a map.
Office Volunteers - Al-Anon & Alateen of Central Ohio is able to function as a result of non-professional volunteers. This includes, in part, working at the Literature Distribution Center and the Al-Anon Information Service - lovingly referred to Central Office. You can help by answering the phone, stocking shelves, selling literature, and greeting people in a warm and enthusiastic way. You can volunteer one hour or all day. Volunteer everyday or once a month. There is always something that needs done. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@coafg.org or call Central Ohio Al-Anon Family Groups at (614) 253-2701.
